Born and brought up in NRC Colony, one of Maharashtra’s quaint industrial townships, Dr. Mandar did his medical graduation and post-graduation from Mumbai’s famed Sion Hospital (Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College). Never one to just confine himself to curricular activities, Dr. Mandar made his mark in diverse spheres like sports, music and literature, right from his college days. He was the President of the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) in 1991-92.
When just out of college, he started writing for various Marathi newspapers and periodicals like Saamna, Chanderi and Ruchi. In 1993, he moved to the United Arab Emirates and settled down in the city of Sharjah. Since then, besides being one of the leading paediatricians in the city, he has also gone on to become one of U.A.E.’s renowned writer-journalists. His articles on music, movies and medicine are regularly featured in reputed international print and web-media. His main journalistic work has been with U.A.E.’s premier newspapers - Khaleej Times (1998-2001) and Gulf News (2001 till date).
Dr. Mandar is a passionate connoisseur and collector of classic films and film-songs. Over the years, he has interviewed many leading and legendary artistes from the Hindi film and music industry and has conducted exclusive celebrity interviews on public platforms.
He is the founder-editor of two popular web-portals Cinemasangeet.Com and Right Parenting.Com. The GCC region’s leading music distributor Vanilla Music (Viva Entertainment) has released quite a few special film-song albums compiled by him, through a series called Cinemasangeet Classics.
Before this book, Dr. Mandar has penned four well received books - Gaaye Lata Gaaye Lata (1996), Doctorki (1999), Suur Manaatale (2002) and Right Parenting (2008). |
